One of my favorite things to photograph.

When a client tells me that they cried when they saw their photos, I know I’ve done my job well. I love capturing a special moment when my clients don’t even realizing I’m taking a photo. Often times these are my favorites as well as theirs. When I meet with the Gillett family to take portraits for them at their reunion I spotted Jeanette talking quietly with her mother and giving her hugs and kisses while we were gathering another group for their smaller family photos. I immediately started snapping photos knowing that they would be some of the most touching ones, and sure enough they were.

Thanks,

Megan

Mike and Sherry's Wedding

Intimate weddings are some of my very favorite to capture. I was honored to be part of the elegant wedding that Mike and Sherry had, overlooking the ocean. The two of them had a beautiful ceremony of faith in the future, and toasts that had everyone, including me, laughing as well as crying all night long. This is a wedding that will not be forgotten.

I also want to note the beautiful arrangements done by Lavender Hill Floral. http://www.lavenderhilloc.com/

Some of my family favorites

One of the reasons I became a photographer is because I love taking photographs of my own family. Here are a few of my favorites of my Nieces and Nephew. I just love capturing those "looks" and expressions that make them who they are! Are they just adorable or what? :)

Welcome!

I’m so excited to be starting my new blog so that we can get to know each other. This being my first entry, I thought I would let you know a little bit about me and my photography…

My love for photography began as a child. While all of my friends were playing house with their dolls, I was taking pictures of mine.

In high school I expanded my interest by taking photography classes. Photography remained a passion and hobby of mine throughout college. I enjoyed experimenting with everything from landscape to portraits. During that time, I never really had a specific type of photography I focused on.

After collage I went on to become an elementary school teacher. One summer a friend of mine asked me to take photographs of her while she was pregnant. I had found my niche. After five years of teaching and taking pregnancy and infant portraits on the side, I decided to combine my love of and expertise in photography with the knowledge and joy I received from working with children and families, and make photography my full time career. Ever since that day, I have been specializing in portrait and lifestyle photography of pregnancy, infants, children, and families. It is so wonderful to capture; a woman as she nurtures a new life, an infant as he or she grows, the spirit and character of a child, and a family's love for each other.

As I have grown as a photographer I have held onto my desire to be an educator and I am always finding and researching resources to make available to my client’s growing families. I see myself not only as a photographer, but as a resource providing an experience for my clients.

I have also come to truly value working on location with all of my clients. When I go to their comfort zone it allows kids particularly to be themselves and let their character shine through.

As I journeyed on and got married myself I decided to add wedding photography to my clients. I particularly love capturing the beautiful details from the day and the intimacy of the couples getting married. Each couple has a unique beauty that I love to capture in the photographs.

For me, it’s all about the joys of life, the small details in an expression, and writing a family’s history with images that will share stories for generations to come.

I look forward to writing again soon!
